family matters…

When it comes to fashion up and comers and big timers…Canadians seem to find success sticking to their gene pool. From Common Cloth to Beckerman to Dsquared, we have a large stream of talent that proves blood is thicking than water; atleast in the land of fashion design.

Making business partners out of your siblings, for the lucky ones who are able to, is likely to be a win-win scenario…being that most have different strengths and weaknesses, share similar values, and bring an individually unique creative energy to the table; And, on the plus side, think of all of those stressed-out artists and designers who rarely find the time to spend with their family and friends due to deadlines and travel arrangements.

In a sense, its bringing back the good old age of the ‘family business’…and coming from my own experiences with two sisters, there are very few people in the world that you can piss off as much as you can a sibling (…and vice versa)…and still maintain a certain relationship and mutual understanding.

More siblings on the scene…

As a member of a family based business (mom, sister, and myself are all work together as freelance make up artists) I have to say it is so great to have the opportunity to work or be working for people you are so close with (in our case at least)
